Hi
I'm considering buying a 110 single cab pick-up and would appreciate any advice or comments from those with experience of them. I don't generally carry heavy loads but a lwb pick-up really appeals to me as i'm generally carrying wet fishy smelly salty gear in the back of my van at the moment and also a lot of deer in the winter months. It would be used as my sole vehicle covering about 500 motorway miles a week and some light offroad stuff in the course of work. I'd probably be looking at a TD5 and a clean enough body.
I'm wondering how they handle when the back is empty and are there big differences in handling between the standard and high-capacity models.
Cheers

My TD5 does about 23mpg on the motorways. The ride is quite hard and there is a fair bit of noise. Particularly wind noise but if you can cope with that they are great. I use mine as a fishing/hunting truck and you can't beat them. Fun to drive, I find mine quite comfortable and you can't beat them off road. I do about 25000 miles a year in mine and have no complaints. Be warned though they are adictive.

If you don't carry more than one deer at a time, I'd go for a double cab with a truckman GRP rear canopy. In fact I did. That way all the stinky smelly stuff goes in the back, but you still have room in the front for a few passengers, your sainsburys, stuff you don't want to get covered in dead deer and fish..

The ride is pretty harsh empty as they have HD rear springs but I don't mind - although you may get used to it and then feel car sick in the softer wallowing suspension of "normal" cars.

Thanks for that lads. Am torn between a crew cab and a truck cab but i guess i'll just have to have a proper look around both and see if the bed on a crew cab would be big enough for me.
Cheers

ive got a 110 single cab.You can out tonnes of stuff in the back, ride id more comftable than my 90.empty and loaded.Off road abilty is awsome. They are a tad long for my likeing tho.

I had one for a while. It was an old un with a 2.5 n/a diesel but it was great. Such a useful thing for shifting stuff. Really missed it when I sold it. Only thing is if you're tall the cab's a bit cramped.
