Please have your say against the proposed TRO of Jacobs Ladder in Stoner Middleton. This is a cracking lane that we also use as a link road between other lanes. It would be a shame to lose it.

NB if you objected to this TRO previously it will not be counted. It has to be done again. Here’s the link for objections:

Reading of the proposed closure of Byway No. 15 (Jacobs Ladder) I would like to submit my objection to its closure for the following reasons.

As a regular leisure user of this adopted byway by a motorised vehicle, I firstly find exclusion to a specific group or user objectionable if not in direct breech of Derbyshire Council’s Equality and Diversity policy.
These routs are primarily used for leisure activities by diverse groups of able bodied and disabled people in many forms and to exclude a single one of them is not only unfair but against your own Take A Stand code of practice.

Not only should these rights of way remain open but be maintained in accordance with legal requirements so users can pass with ease. Allowing them to become overgrown and narrowed by undergrowth should not be an excuse to exclude any individuals right of access.

I do believe local amateur motoring organisations have offered regular voluntary work parties to ease the councils financial burden on maintenance so I can only assume there are other hidden agendas for excluding admittance. Sadly this will negate yet another leisure persuit for less able individuals who’s ingress to such areas relies on motorised transportation.
