transfer lever 5 speed conversion

I purchased the Ashcroft kit a couple of years ago and have finally got round to assembling it. Using the existing transfer case chassis mounts together with an R380 gearbox. Perhaps someone could help with
how/where you mount a bracket for the transfer case lever. A length of angle iron came with the kit but I am still stuck.
Elsewhere on the forum mention is made about welding it to the transfer case chassis mount but wouldn't that be too far away and on the outside of the front output shaft - shouldn't it be somewhere between the front output shaft and the R380.

Beyond my scope. My brain cant handle cogs. Specially when there are several meshing together.
