Track rod ends

Please help just removed track rods from the old series 2a, long bar bent and very badly hacked about with so I've bought a replacement original second hand one for a tenner . I don't know if it was off a series 3 or not, same as the short one, over the past years it could have been changed for all I know.
Problem I have got are the track rod ends, are all series 2 and 3 the same?
I have removed the track rod ends and all are fully threaded. Part numbers I have seen online seem to be rtc5867 and rtc 5868 and if you put a G at the end u get a oem part.
Like to get some parts from lr spares Liverpool and the quote for all six oem is about £9 pounds each seems cheap but are they the correct part ?
 
Check inside the bars if it is threaded right to the end then the fully threaded ends will do just fine.
If the last inch ish is smooth with no threads then you need different track rod ends

Double check the faint threads, it could in fact be an early smooth car track rod that has had fully threaded rod ends fitted, the clamp is then done up and the fully threaded rod ends leave very faint marks on the inside of the smooth section of the rod, this has very little mechanical grip and is very dangerous.
If the threads get visibly meatier further down inside the rod, then you most likely have the earlier rod.
 
Yes that could be right but it's has taken a 6 inch vice and a 24inch pipe wrench to get them apart they where tight.
But thanks I'll take your advice.
 
The track rod issue on series is a pain, it seems the only rods sold now are the fully threaded ones so you have to check in case its not the orginal part. Agree with all above about how important it is to be sure. I suspect a lot of S2A rods got fitted with fully threaded rod ends because people didn't check so a like for like could be wrong. Try pushing the old track rod in, if it goes in at all there's a good chance its got a plain section. The key issue is getting enough thread engaged, that's taking the load, the pinch bolt is stopping it undoing but its a fine thread so its unlikely to suddenly unscrew itself.
 
Have just been outside and given them a good clean bit of oil and cross hatched the old trackrod ends and re screwed them in to clean out the threads. Can see what lynall ment and yes their is a smooth patch before the threads begin.
So with out buying crap Indian britpat track rods where are good one avaliable
 
Be carefull! Even when the add is the right number for the one with a shoulder the picture often shows one fully threaded. I'll be ordering some soon and have decided I'll phone and double check before ordering.
