I'm really confused and wondered if any of you Land Cruiser owners can help
out. I have a 97 4.5l fuel injected Cruiser which I'm thinking of converting
to gas. Trouble is which system to go for IMPCO or the European system. I've
rang heaps of dealers and seem to end up about 50/50. Would be interested to
now what systems you guys are running out there and if you've had any
problems with either.
Any help appreciated. many thanks.
ps will also be towing a boat on some weekends.
Cheers Ian

I used the Impco conversion on my '74 FJ-55 (carbed). I had it converted to 100% LPG (no dual fuel) and it worked fine. My dad
has 2 vehicles running w/ the Impco conversions as well, '70 Chevy pickup since '74 (100% LPG) and a '68 Dodge that is dual
fuel.

I can only give you my experiences, but I've got a 1997 Discovery V8 running
on LPG using a BRC system and it works very well. However, as LPG is 114
octane it pays to have the ignition for that far more advanced than on
petrol/gasoline. I fitted an A&R Ignition unit from RPi Engineering which
has greatly improved things. It automatically changes the ignition settings
depending what fuel you are using. Performance on LPG is now significantly
better than on petrol. It returns about 15-17mpg on petrol and 14-19mpg on
LPG.

Check out this site, it's mainly about Rover V8's but theres some useful LPG
stuff too:
