Towing.

Hi all ive been searching but seem to be finding mixed results. I currently have a series 3 with a 200tdi and lt77 box with disco axles and breaks all round.
I was wondering what sort of weight would the series chassis be able to handle safley.

Chassis is in really good condition. And was looking around the 2 ton mark?

regulary or occasionally ,you can legally tow 2 over run braked trailer check your vin plate

Once a week maybe less. And the trailer is breaked. And its about 2.2ton max

it'll pull it but do ensure the trailer brakes are in fine fettle and that you load the trailer correctly

a friend of mine wrecked his 88" towing roughly 2.5 ton when it suddenly snaked and then jack knifed on him

it really isn't nice when the tail wags the dog, i've had it happen with my 88", my 109 and with an old Citroen bx a few years ago

if you're not used to towing i'd suggest starting with lighter loads (is it animals ??, they move and can pitch things about quite badly)

i second that i did the exact same apart from atyre blowing on the trailer put me in to a snake and rolled me it will handle the weight no problem just make sure that the trailer is up to the job

Hi and thanx for the help. Its a 1.6 ton minidigger and a700kg trailer and the breaks have just been overhauled.

not saying its the cause of it but i notice you have one of those adjustable towing brackets fitted, don't like them as there is too much play in them for my liking IMHO
