Help. I've just bought a new genuine quick release towbar for my TD4 5 door. When I fit the thing and line up all the bolt holes it ends up just touching the exhaust. It makes a noticeable noise whilst driving with it touching. Can anybody tell me if I can move the exhaust slightly to get it off the bar or do I need a different bar.

Thanks

If the towbar was designed for the TD4 Freelander then I would say the exhaust is slightly out of alignment. From experience, only half a degree out on the exhaust joint can cause all sorts of banging.
Maybe remove the back box and re-fit it?

Or check where the towbar touches the exhaust and when seen just ram something inbetween to have the exhaust a little dented to make room for the towbar...;)

is the exhaust a genuine lr exhaust. i know there were problems on the p38 with pattern exhausts being too near the air bags. this may be the case on the freelander. try loosening the joints and turning the section of exhaust that is touching the towbar so that it moves wawy, then reseal with exhaust paste ;)
