Hi all.
I recently came across this issue so rang my insurers to check.
Land Rover Discovery 2 with a tow bar and Dixon Bate fitment.
Insurer - SAGA.
The answer for ME was "it is on the list of things you do not have to notify us about, along with dash cams, mud flaps, protective paint..."
So in my case, no I didn't need to but with other companies you may have to.
Some of you will know this already but others, like me who has been driving around with one on vehicles since 1989, did not!

Secondarily to that I asked what cover they gave my twin axle car transporter.
The answer was "none" but it would be covered for 3rd party only under the existing policy.
Apparently they used to cover caravans but no longer do.

So just putting this out there.
All the best

Stan.

Used to have a horse recovery policy for anything I towed. Covered liability & recovery to a place I was going. This was for 3 horses on the box not your standard 2.

Insurance company complained about the tow bar once, then 2 weeks later a motor rear ended me and the tow bar protected everything. Replaced the tow hitch during the claim & nothing was said again.
