tornado chips

hi all , i wondered if anyone has had any experiance`s with chipping a gems p38a 4.6 .
rpi engineering are selling chips but at around £700.00 they arnt cheap , they claim they are a must for lpg powered p38`s but is it just sales patter ???? they also claim that it eliminates the vague bit at mid throttle that the 4.6 seems to have .
they say that all lpg converted p38`s eventually drift into a limp mode because the ecu is constantly trying to adapt to unrecognised actions from the engine .
from all accounts this chip or chips should i say ,there`s two in total introduce far better mapping of the fuel and ignition and result in a much more responsive and economical car , being the sceptical bugger i`am i thought i would ask you guys what your veiws are any comment are welcomed cheers.

Yes,I have used them,they are fine - but not going to turn your car into a Lotus Twin Cam. What they do is to make the engine more free revving and a better "screamer" higher up the rev range.
I used them in a 4ltr car which is a nice smooth engine,not sure I'd like them in a 4.6,they often feel more lumpy and rough - even when they have had a good look over.

thanks for the reply eight` i am certainly not looking for breakneck performance it was the bit about lpg conversions , and the fact that this chip is supposed to stop the engine ecu from going into "limp mode " due to getting confused by running on lpg , personally i`ve never heard of this and wondered really what percentage is just sales bullsh*t and what is actual fact .

More sales carp I would say,I only know two LPG installers who bother to set up the systems properly - with a scope on the Oxygen sensors.Most just seem to rely on the default fuel maps in the LPG ECU's,even tho it is possible to modify their parameters to get very close to how Gems or Motronic would fuel the engine.Most of the later sequential ones are now quite good,but even they can often need the petrol adaptive values reset every 6 months or so to keep them spot on.Trouble is they rarely go off rich,and a lean mixture is the last thing a 94mm block Rover V8 needs.
