L322 top radiator hose

hi guys i've got a 2003 l322, and this morning i had the top radiator hose give way, luckily (or not as the case maybe) it came away from the end casing (the rubber hose came clean away) leaving the ,mounting flange on the plastic clip on body intact, it came adrift at the water pump end. now i know i will need to replace this hose, and typically being bank holiday i'm not going to get one locally. so my question, i've managed to reattach the hose with a jubilee clip, but it docent want to stay on as straight as i would like as it seems to want to come of the flange as it's tightened but seems ok at the moment. has anyone tried this solution before and been successful? it's only temporary to get me through the weekend until tuesday/wednesday when i can replace it.
