fiddling this morning and I noticed if I turned one rear wheel by hand, after a bit of a turn the other side turned the other way, is that normal and I have just never noticed before?
 
Its just the diff doing what it is meant to do,allow each wheel to match its turning speed to the surface its on.But as prop can not turn then that is what happens.
 
Do not fear, you are not the first to frown at the witchcraft of the axle. After two years I now have all four wheels back on and when I push it, they all go in the same direction!! :rolleyes:
 
Something I noticed with the front differential on my Series is that if I turn one front wheel the wheel on the other side (and the front propshaft) will turn. However this doesn't happen with the other side. Is something not right here?
 
Depends whether the 4wd is engaged to brake the propshaft.
The one that does not turn might have a slightly binding brake so just turns the propshaft.
 
This was without 4wd engaged so the propshaft could be turned freely. I have free wheeling hubs fitted. Both of these were engaged when I tried this.
