Hi have just stripped down my mates engine to replace the cam belt kit, disco 1 300tdi and the cam belt seems to have walked itself off causing almost half the belt to be chewed up but the belt seems to be in the correct place now, there is minor play in the idler pulley and the tensioner but nothing excessive that I think would of caused it to do what it has, anyone have any ideas what caused it to do that? Any genuine help would be appricated
Thanks

I had this on a M plate very early 300tdi defender. It was a misaligned pully which was remedied with a new kit which included new timing case. The belt was chewed and looked like a birds nest of stripped rubber.

you need a kit that has guide lips on the crank pulley and not on the tensioner yours has guide lips on the tensioner, google stc4096l

Ow so it's had the wrong kit on it last time. Just strange it went back to the right place.
Thanks I will order the stc4096l kit
