Thumping noise

I have a Diesel freelander 2001 which make a load thumping noise when turn corners at low speed it sounds if coming from the center of the vehicle. the steering is tight when parking and reversing can any one help please. Nicky:confused:
 
unfortunately a search "for "VCU" wont achieve much - coz its only 3 characters - ACCY! - try "very expensive heap of ****e in between propshafts on a gaylander"

or "mondo mode"
and do it quick before yu need to look fur "very expensive heap of ****e ibefore propshafts on a gaylander"
 
i dint wanna say that....

he/she's a newby.

only thumpin i get in mine is the thump from a 1200watt bass box:D
dunt really need to put fuel in, just turn it up and bounce down road!!!!
 
Worst case and it sounds not far away.......

Its bad the VCU is the unit that joins the front & rear wheels for 4 wheel drive, If left it will destroy the IRD unit aswell, It can be removed and driven in 2 wheel drive - do a search for - mondo mode


Depending on where you go your looking at £1k - VCU(one went on ebay though for £150)
£2k IRD

Get it checked quick, If i were you i would drive no further than to a garage that knows what they are doing
 
Thanks all will take it in and get it check asap may have to go monde till I afford a vcu if it needs one 4x4 with 2wd what have o brought lol

im getting nervous:( , as nothing expensive has broke on mine ,71k,
im trying to work out when i will need the 2nd mortgage

bloody hell, now i realise why they get so much slagging off, you must have killed a flock of albatross, :rolleyes:

i think the secret is , dont let the stealers get their hands on it ,

i have only had a garage service one of my motors ( and only because it was a free ), and the following day the turbo hose blew off:mad:
