My HDC light is on all the time and HDC does not work. Tried all the advice posted on various threds except for one. I cannot seem to find The throttle position sensor located on the accelerator pedal.

I have a 1.8 XEi. 2000

It's there alright. :)

Its a cylindrical unit that is mounted on the throttle pedal bracket. Up under the dash so its a bit fiddly to get to. If the throttle is working okay then just try reseating the connector. That is known to work. Good luck

Thanks for your help, gonna have to look into this a little deeper i think.

I have checked the HDC switch on gearstick - ok

I have checked free play on the accelerator - ok 12+/- 1mm

I have checked that my brake lights are working - ok

I assume that my ABS is working. I do not have the warning light on and the vehicle passed an MOT 2 months ago. I will say that it is more noticable under heavy braking than on any other car that I have driven.

The traction control light comes on every now and then and I lose power. If I turn the engine off and leave for a few minutes, restart and it is ok. This might be relevant.

I have also noticed that I have a trackrod end that needs replacing. Could this be upseting the ABS/TC ?

The car was sitting for about 6 months before i aquired it in September.

A faulty brake pedal switch can bring the warning lights up on the dash. It has multiple functions so it's not just a case of if the lights work it's OK.

Stick the thing on Testbook and sort it out properly - there are loads of reasons why it might not work, till you read the codes you wont know.
