Hi guys.....I have the dreaded Three Amigos.....suddenly popped on the other day on my Disco 2 Td5.
I opened the bonnet to begin investigations....to be confronted by the detached cable shown in the picture.
It was lying there in the vicinity of the ABS unit.
It's obviously been chewed by a helpful little rodent?.....but I can see nowhere where it has been severed from.
It's about 2 feet long, black sheath, with a single multicore centre.
It looks like the cables to the hub sensor......but they appear intact on both sides.
Any ideas?

Do you have a diagnostic? If so, plug it in and see if it helps.
Whereabouts are are you in SW France, cos although I am currently in the UK my next door neighbour, in the Tarn has a Nanocom he'd probably help you out with this.
We both live near Mazamet.

No, unfortunately I don't have a diagnostic. I'm currently in the Charente....so a little way from you guys too. But I appreciate the offer.....thank you. Now I think of it, its possible my son may have one....are they vehicle specific?
It could also be that the length of frayed wire I found has nothing to do with the problem....but it just seemed oddly coincidental to discover it laying there, just as the issue has surfaced!

Nanocoms are type specific, i.e. one for a Disco 2 TD5 will not work on a Defender V8. You have to pay to unlock them for each type of vehicle. Foxwells will work with anything from the Jaguar Land Rover range but they are not as powerful as a Nanocom. That said, mine helped a lot with my ABS problems and also with other stuff.
An ordinary OBD11 reader will not help. Sadly.

Hi, check the wire from that C0500 connector cos it's possible to be from that one which is the modulator's main earth, if you can't confirm 100% that the wire is intact due to space limitations unplug the connector and check continuity to earth in it with multimeter or a bulb, if it was ruled out means that the wire you found has no relation with the ABS and the only easy way to diagnose the 3 amigos is with a compatible scanner

Thanks, I'll do that. All the wiring appeared intact to the eye, but I'll check continuity as you suggest.
