Hi all Landrover freaks!

My story starts like this! On the the way to my local beach my freelander 2 decided to stall! Thought it was oil so popped across road to get some oil, all was fine until
I returned home on dual carriageway, thought I'd put my foot down to mix the oil around, car gave up and started to Hunt and it was a verry bum clinching and rattly journey home, I was left with these options,

1 fuel filter/pump
2 injectors
3 swirl flaps

So I thought I'd take it to the garage I got
It from, they said they would change the oil filter and drain and fill back up! They couldn't do an injector test as they didn't have the gear!

Picked it up! exactly the same and £40
Worse off!

So I thought I'd take it to THE Landrover people ya know the top bollocks people who
Make the cars, 2 hours later and £200 lighter they were scratching there heads!

So i took it home and removed manifold myself, found 2 and a half swirl flaps were missing and part of the rod that holds them
In place. Took it into my local engine repair specialists and I had a hole in one valve and a melted piston, due to these flaps, Basically had a engine rebuild £2200

Got the car back, now it's a cold start problem, 4 new glow plugs and injectors injectors tested, also been to a auto electrician, fuel pressure is spot on, and glow plugs pulling the required amps to show all 4 are working, engine runs better than it ever did, but hard to start, cleaned out maf sensor, and tps yesterday, starts first time, but very juddery and white smoke out of the back, see pics above for damage caused by swirl flaps

hi

welcome to the asylum

sorry to hear of the issues

@Hippo and @Nodge68 are the wizards with this , hopefully they will be along to help when they can

my only thoughts would be to throw it back at the garage who rebuilt ur engine, as for that money i would expect it to run perfectly

sorry can't be more help

Hi Stuart, thank you for your help I would throw it back at garage but they only specialise in engine repair, and that's sweet when it starts I just don't know what damage was done, in the last 7 weeks in trying to get it sorted

hi

are the intercooler hoses ok and no splits in them

sorry i'm not that familiar with the FL2

has it been plugged into a diagnostic to see if any fault codes appear , also to get the live data to ensure the injectors are working correctly , i.e. not over fuelling

did u mean the MAP sensor , lol

so sorry i can't be of more help,

maybe this would be better over in the freelander section

if i ask @blue beasty very kindly he may get chance to move it for u , so others can see this post

hope u didn't mind me asking BB

It's had a full electronic diag, no fault codes currently, injectors have been on a machine, dunno about the intercooler hoses,

The sensor after air intake I've cleaned and the sensor on Throttle body I've cleaned, it's used to take 6/7 presses of start button to eventually fire up and lots of white smoke, after cleaning these sensors it's starts first time but very bumpy and rough

And no that's fine if u could that would be a great help, my options and ideas are at a stand still lol
