I'm new here and haven't been before - I did a search but didn't
really find what I was looking for. Hope you can help.

I'm thinking of buying an older SWB Landcruiser 2.5TD for getting
about in winter in. It's got a slight diesel leak coming from the
injector side - haven't given it a good looking over yet. One of the
tractor joints looks a bit rusty - anything I should be worried about?

I'd be grateful if anyone can tell me what sort of consumption these
have and anything typical I should be looking out for or wary of. I'm
reasonably mechanically minded and able - nothing too complicated
though!!

TIA
Callum

I have had a Landcruiser 4.2VX for over four years having owned Land Rover
products since the 70's and I would never go back, looking to replace it
with a later model sometime soon.
Being a Toyota it should be fine.
I have no experience of the consumptioon figures for the 2.5 but I get about
26-28mpg from my 4.2 with a manual gearbox so I would have thought you
should get over 30mpg.
