Hi guys
ive got 20 k to spend.
Looking at buying a range rover, have spotted a nice one on autotrader.
and would like a bit of feed back.
its a 2005 with 70 k on clock.diesel, auto vogue model with cream leather.
the dealer wants just under 18 grand, and the car looks good.

What do i need to look out for?
cheers

Cheers, will remember to make sure they arnt the tinted type.:)

On a serious note.
Im wanting one from a dealer and not a private seller because too many people are off loading RR,s with problems.
At least via a reputable dealer you get a warranty( may not be a good warranty) but it aint sold as seen.

so guys. what are the common faults that i need to look out for?:D

For that sort of money you could get a 35 anniversary, you will love or hate the way it looks but for me i love it.Also as lovely as a vogue is (and yes would have a newone anytime if i could)there is something about driving an exclusive RR....iF I HAD THE CASH ...thats the one for me..
P.S 2k or 20k.......they ALL go wrong.

Not too many problems from that year on. A lot of the teething problems in the first iteration were cleared up in 2005. As Kooky Guy says, check the recall history and that all work was done. Check the service logs and receipts for scrupulous maintenance. Sometimes gremlins in the navigation/entertainment system, the EAS and the autogearbox so check everything works. Haven't heard of any major engine issues. Good luck and whatever you get, post up some photos!

Is it a late 05 model with a TDV8 (ie. Facelifted '06' model?). For that kind of cash it certainly wants to be! If no then keep looking for a newer facelift one which happened in 06.

I wouldn't assume that a dealer sold car is going to be any more reliable than a good private sale one either. Check all the stuff people already said, ie. Air susp, steering adjust, folding mirrors, smooth gearbox, general electrics etc.

Many thanks gents
have stumped up the cash and bought a 2006 tdv6 Vogue.
Zermati silver with cream oxford parchment leather.
**** me its the dogs bollocks.lol
got it from stratstone landrover in Doncaster.£24750. 42 k on clock .
6 months warranty.
Now, lets wait and see what breaks first lol

went via a deeler because i wanted some genuine warranty.
Had a p38 years ago and had lots of issues with repeat faults.

not going down that road again
lol

Oh yes you are, you just bought a Landy, only difference is that the faults will be more expensive:eek: and will wait for the warranty to expire:eek::eek::eek:
Two different landrover specialists i spoke to tell me the l322 is no more reliable than the p38.Just loads more money for parts.

We will wait and see.lol

Had an R reg DSE and sold it 6 years ago. great engine,( bmw).
electrics on other hand, ( ****e).lol

Spoke to alot of mechanicks and aparantly by 2005 most of the l322 issues had been rectified.

i hope so, but only time will tell.
obviously i will be using this forum alot to try and keep the repair bills down

cheers Guys
