Just thought I wud start this one because it seems that most of the posters (is that the rite word?) on here no longer own a hippo (see not "trail" as yu fort:p)
It wud appear that most of us have now seen the light - even Mondeo - staunch supporter of Hippoos - has got fed up with driving 2wd Hippoos and is looking for a reliable buggy!

So here it is - fred for talkin about hippoos for peeps wot dont own one - but have possibly had the interesting experience at some point in the past. (I can see the flamers being loaded as i type:))

Hi all,

Just to let you know two weeks ago I had some sparetime (as this forum was down), that I cleaned and oiled the K&Nfilter again, introduced the little ball in the EGR vacuumpipe again and also with a small hecksaw I sew a groove in each of the special screws that hold the MAF, took it out and cleaned with brakecleaner (as Ming said) and have to admit everything working fine, seems to run slightly better than before, maybe the K&Nfilter is partially the reason for that. Next week I will pass the MOT test with it, hope it will be ok. Hello to all and glad tos ee you're all back again. Take care.

Btw: Still driving my Hippo and hope to do so for many more years.... no Series for me, no sir. (Lack of place, the Hippo just enters into the garage, in length and in width and for the garagedoor also in height. Some centimeters slack on all sides is all I have, so ....)

not bad yet - 2 months and nuffing but petrol. Am beginning to relax, and not become hysterical wiv every clunk

has anyone got one of these new ford hippos yet?!

Cashew here and I've still got my hippo..now my drivers door solenoid has gone, along with both front windows and the sunroof, but least she's still ere....:p

My driver'sdoor solenoid is very slow and comes out only half when cold outside which means I have to press a 2nd time and have all doors opened, only then the knob comes out completely and allows me to get in the car. Last week I took the doortrim off in the hope to be able to spray some WD40 on it but there was a plastic sheet glued on the doorframe so I didn't damage that, what I did was to have some drops of oil slide down thed rod on which the doorknob is mounted in the hope it would go down all the way and have whatever retains the wellfunctioning of it loosen up a little but it seems as no difference at all.

Just puncture the plastic with the extension tube of yer wd40 and give the solinoid bit a reet good spray, und just put a band aid over hole and say there there there, and it will work fine. . . . . .:) :) :)
