I've just bought a nearly new V6 Freelander and very pleased I am with
it too, except that I'm getting a bit fed up bobbing my head down to
see ahead properly. I should have realised I was a bit tall for this
car (I'm 6'2") when I test drove it but there you go. Does anyone know
if it's possible to lower the seat without taking an oxy-acetylene
torch to it (and presumably invalidating the 3 year warranty)?
Mike.

I lloked at one as a company car a while back and crossed it off as I'm over
6 foot tall and couldn't get comfortable. I can't see why they don't have
height adjustable seats as there is plenty of room.

Christ - a car of that price and no height adjustable drivers seat, what are
they playing at??

I never noticed this on the test drive, and I find the viewing
position in my FL *barely* comfortable, and I'm 5'11. If I sit up
straight then my eyeline is level with where the roof meets the
windscreen! If you have a long body then I pity your
physiotherapist......

I can't believe such a big car has such a poor driving position

Just sitting in it in the showroom told me that this car was NOT made with me
in mind.. Maybe they aimed it at the Japanese market? Note that it took
some time getting comfortable in a Disco as well. For some reason the seat
didn't extend that far back. WEEEIIIRDD!!!!!!!

Especially as other cars in Freelander's market are much more comfortable,
seating wise. (CRV et al)

It's a brand characteristic. A little bit of retro 88"/109" design.

I have a 3dr TD4 and have no problem with there being enough room and I'm
over 6'5" !

Although I do seem to remember the 5dr models seem to be more cramped I
can't fault the driving position of the Freelander

Do I have to say it again?

I'm 6'2" and have 11 inches of Headroom. and plenty of legroom and my
eyeline is nowhere
near the top of the window.

Freeloader - pah.

Kangoo power.

hmmmm....your upper body is 11" shorter than Mike's. Do you scrape your
knuckles on the ground when walking

I think you missed the (** well hidden! **) point.

He was refering to the amount of room he has in his Renault Kangoo -
compared the the amount of room an earlier poster has in his Freelander.

ROFL!

Part of the problem is the rear-view mirror and the black patch above
it which together seem to blot out a large part of the view. I though
about replacing it with a dashboard mounted LCD panel and rear mounted
camera :)
Mike.
