The Cylinder Head Gasket went on my wife's 2002 1.8GS Freelander on Saturday. It had done 29,690miles.

I got a new gasket and replaced it myself - all is good and it runs sweet as a nut now - however - the HDC and TC lights wont go off.

I had to remove the throttle cable from the head in order to get the head off. I've fiddled about with the adjustment of it but the lights dont seem to reset. I know the play on the accelerator pedal should be 12mm +-1mm. Does the ECU have to be reset? If so how do I do that? (Disconnect the battery for 20mins?) or do the lights need reset using some sort of diagnostic tool?

Please Help!!

hdc and tc have to know throttle position, so yu have changed the throttle position. dont think this is summat yu can reset, but someone will tell ya soon.

you have over adjusted the throttle cable, put some slack in it otherwise the ecu thinks the throttle is stuck and will put the light on. it will store the fault but the lights should go off when the ignition is turned off and back on
