The Best V8 ???

what v8 is most mechanically sound, also which is the best and why? (plus don't tell me to do a google search, your the great minds of land rovers )

I should have put this in the engines part of the forum dammit I'm explicitly referring to the use of the V8 in range rovers p38 mainly

theres only 2 of em in the p38 and both are mechanically sound untill they **** up

we get alot of threads like this. ignoring your p38 bit the concensus seems to be the orginal 3.5 is the strongest.

3.5 was definately strongest,no cracked blocks

Epic so a 3.5 v8, that's opened another doorway time to research cheers guys

The old 3.5 was virtually bullet proof. No block problems or elctrickery to blow your mind.

Old Rover 3.5 V8 was almost bullet proof. Very easy to work on. Worst V8 ever, Triumph Stag engine. Possibly the best i ever worked on 4.7 V8 in 928 Porsche.

If you mean the old Daimler 2.5. A heap of **** if they were all like the one i had years ago used more oil than Buckingham palaces heating system in winter. Seriously not a bad motor if you got one fitted with piston rigs (don't think mine had any). Got shut of it in the auction ASAP.

sure the 4.2 was a straight 6....??

no no no people, they did two v8 hemis, one 2.5 and one at 4.2

the 4.2 was 280 bhp even back then- now thats good, but hemis do rule
