The 90 is In for a respray at the weekend

I've spent he last 3 weeks rubbing it down, I've given up with the back door, the frame is ok but the skin is knackered and somebody has made a right mess of fitting the window with white bathroom sealant

I'm picking a new one up from sp landrovers £94

A friends son is painting it, he's done a couple of his mates cars which have come out ok but they fit in a garage

I've bought a used canvas tent garage thing to use as a spray booth which is big enough.

The paint is ordered, Stornaway grey, I was going to do it with aerosols but I've spent that much on it it'd be a shame if it came out crap

When it's painted I'll put some more up! It took me an hour to get that bastard number plate off

Chequer playe powder coated and back on as well as the lights and bumper

Three weeks...should be back to bare metal by now lol. At least you rubbed it down think the last guy to do mine wiped it over with petrol. Best of luck and post some pic's
 
Looking fwd to seeing the results. Have you got any more details about your makeshift spray booth? Links of where you bought it? Photos?
 
My landy was sprayed at sometime without any prep and is turning more green (currently silver) everytime I pressure wash her - so the prep will be worth it. I am going to have to respray my baby at some stage and am really looking forward to seeing how you got on - good luck.

you're proper bling you are.

had mine confirmed as bronze green but there are 3 shades of it depending on year.
 
Im looking at respraying mine in the summer (if we get one)
What did you use to rub it down i see the pre gritted sanding blocks in one the pictures is that all you used? the only ones i can find seem abit coarse.
 
I used an electric orbital sander to go all over it, an angle grinder with a soft pad on for the corroded bits the went over it by hand with the sanding blocks to make sure I hadn't missed any.

The guy who's painting it is doing the filling and sanding it, then the bare bits are getting etch primed followed by all of it with filler primer then a flat with fine wet and dry followed by base coat and lacquer

This is what It's being painted in only it'll be more air tight , bought it used for £70 it's 7' to the eaves so the 90 should drive in and hopefully painting the roof will be ok

Well it's been handed over this morning, I went to have a look and he's done more to it in 8 hours than I did in 3 weeks

He's filled the dents and is priming it tomorrow

It's the first time I met him but I felt totally at ease, he's confident it'll come out ok, I'll be back up there on Sunday when hopefully it'll be painted

The lacquer is a bit flat in places because it was so hot but given where he painted it I'm really impressed with how it's come out, I've got a polisher so it'll be out with the cutting compound next week and bolting everything back on
 
Its hard to tell from the pics but I suspect that the rear windows are fitted inside out. Have you found that rain comes in when moving forward? The sliding glass should normally be on the outside of the fixed rear glass. It may just be an optical illusion though so feel free to shoot me down.

I hadn't noticed that, thanks, you're right they are the wrong way round, it is an Irish one though.

I'm 99% sure it'll be ok when it's buffed, it was boiling in that carport, as soon as it hit the panels it was dry so it's very orange peely but there's plenty of lacquer on it , I'm buying the right pads and 3M cutting compound to use with a buffer

It's like a slow speed angle grinder, worst case is a light flat with 1200 grit and another coat of lacquer

I've not had a look at it yet, is it the glass that needs to come out or the whole window
 
Looks like the whole window unit need reversing. The sliding part should be on the outside of the fixed part and towards the front. There should be a rubber sealing strip that needs one of them fancy diamond tools to insert on the outside.
