Hi all, Ive spent a good time reading through all of the threads regarding this matter, and there is some great info out there! What I would like to know is, does the fault affect driving at all? Or does it just mean you can't use the drive modes? I only ask as I have the chance to buy a Freelander2 with this light on at a really good price and it's tempting! Just I would need time to investigate all the options for fixing it
thanks Mike

It depends on what is making the TR fault occur. If it's Haldex related, then the vehicle will drive as a just fine as FWD, but functions that are handled by the TR module will not work, which includes the DSC safety system.
If the TR issue is caused by an ABS system issue, then ABS will also not function.
A full systems diagnostic read tell you exactly what the issue is.

Thank for your reply, I guessed that would be the case but I won't have the means to scan before I buy! So it's kind of working on a worse case scenario. As long as it can be driven I then have time to diagnose and fix - hopefully its something simple

I'd be asking why the seller hasn't fix the issue. It could be ABS module related, which is a ball ache to replace, not because it's difficult, but because it requires programming to the vehicle using dedicated diagnostic equipment. LR diagnostic equipment (SDD) won't even configure a used ABS module, as according to LR this module is a single use module. This means buying a new ABS module, which is seriously expensive.
A diagnostic is a must before parting with any money.
