So got a bit bored yesterday and with plans to put the 200tdi in I thought lets see just how fast the old 2.5TD can make it go, so removed weight (spare wheel, rear seats, loads of junk behind the front seats etc....) cranked the waste gate up a few turns, and found a long shallow down hill decent on the A2 yesterday.

Well the bottom line was that it got to just over 85mph:cool: (if you a member of a law enforcment agency etc, then my speedo reads 15mph over what speed it is actualy doing) on the speedo and was still going, but the landy became very directionaly unstable, and i had to slow down as it was undrivable :rolly:

So was just wondering if this is normal, as I guess newer landys will easily do over this speed. Are there any upgrades to the stearing / shocks etc that makes it more stable.

Just got hold of a cylinder of nitrous oxide:eek:...........

My 300 tdi has hit the ton on the speedo, and could have gone faster, totally stable.

Summats wrong with yours (or anyone's) if it isn't stable at any speed.

depends if the TD has been modified or is standard. mud terrains at that speed can be scary, other factors can also contribute to this (lift, additional weight, roof loading etc etc). Even if you did make your TD more stable at those speeds it prob wouldnt be long before you blew the engine.

Should be stable at 85, that isn't so fast really - what sort of issue did it have, steering feel funny?

Started swaying side to side. Did some investigation and noticed that the adjustment clmp on the rear linkage bar (right side) was loose - guess this did not help:eek:

Alos noticed the outside of the front right tyre is worn a lot more than the left (there normal road tyres) so guess the alignment is out as well. The box has the usualy play in it, but you do have to turn the wheel a bit more than you would expect to get away from the play at high speeds - driving in lorry 'groves' can become quite dangerous.

Can i take it down to the local tyre place to get allignment done or does it need somebody who knows about landys as its not just a simple rack
