300Tdi . Nearing the end of my Rebuild, been on 2 and half years,

Anyway 300Tdi, out of Disco. Got it up and running couple of months ago after been stood about 10 years, New Timing belt, Water Pump Clutch. Only ever started it for a few minuets at a time.
Let it run for a good 5 to 10 minuets for the first time, Temp Gauge Needle started to rise slowly until it reached the red mark within this time., does it every time now. Does not loose any water at all , not that I can see anyway.
Not got a clue when it comes to Engines , I've Probably done something wrong along the way.
Any Ideas as how this is happening ?

defender 300 tdi engine has a different temp sender than the disco and rrc,you ought to buy a defender one

Thanks James, I did buy a Brand New one, will try and find the receipt to see what I got.

I will check the weekend to see if I have a resistor fitted to give the correct reading.

OK This is the part I got from Paddocks, it says Defender, AMR3321
I know my Engine is out of a Discovery but don't know what Year it is.

Changed Thermostat and will try get another AMR3321 from my Local Landy shop tomorrow, as think I've put this one in to tight, the O ring has came off. One of the bolts was Rounded on Housing so need another, couldn't find one in my loads of nuts and bolts Ive got. they are FS108251 have Flanged head would any same size bolt do with washer, if I cant get right one. ?

Can someone tell me if this is Right. Disco 300TDI in to Defender .
I have the Origional Defender Temp Gauge and I am using Defender Temp Sender which is AMR3321 Black Top rather then the Disco AMR1425 Green Top

Check that the earth wire from the sump to tha chassis is secure.
