Every time I start up IE, I am getting a "security alert" message from Equifax. I have removed the certificate from my root certification options, but the alert still keeps popping up [even after I have restarted the computer]. Equifax is now not even showing in my certification list, but I still get the security warning every time.
Any ideas please anyone?

do you know what it actually is? its to do with credit reporting or somthign along those lines. start off by going into your add&remove programs under control panel, if its listed remove it. it may not be called that exect name in your certs or addons within IE so disbale any addons you dont know what they are, you should have many certs in your IE list, google cert manger in google, load it up on your pc and check under the personal section, if its there then just delete it. otherwise sounds like its abit buggy,

you could try a restore to before the issue happend but i dont really like restore.

if its more then a year old bugger it, total wipe. i do myn every year and servers every 3.

Use firefox;)

OK

Seconding the post about using Firefox, expanding it a bit further gives use any browser other than IE.

Firefox, Opera, Chrome etc

Even better go into add/remove, remove windows components and get shot of IE for good, but make sure you have downloaded alternative first!

For certificates using XP, go into run and type 'mmc'

Go into 'file menu' and select 'add/remove snap-in', then 'add' browse for certificates then 'Add', 'Finish', 'OK', this then gives a list categorised of all the certificates, find the one you want and remove it, job done.
