Spoke to the guy on line he stated wherever you get it from will come with numbers removed unless bought directly from LR doesn't sound right never bought anything before with part numbers filed off but will call paddocks or someone have to know but has offered me full refund but I could be wrong have ordered other stuff today but not from evilbay, craddocks, maltings etc

I regularly gets parts with the logo ground off. Parts are generally made by after marker manufacturers even when the cars are new, and they can't sell the parts they outside of the "dealer network" with someone elses trademarks on them.

They are generally pricey aftermarket parts (not Ebay or amazon tat), from reputable OE manufacturers.

It was very common on BMW parts made by OEM manufacturers and even recently got a tensioner for Dads Subaru - it had the Subaru logo and number ground off from exactly where his factory one had them.

Having it ground off is probably MORE likely to make it genuine, than HAVING the part number and logo, because the counterfeiters leave the logo on 🤣

Took a pic only label on packaging says part numbers reference only but had part removed, never heard of this grinding off before should be easy to check when maltings opens was bought elsewhere

Many thanks mate was a suprise to me, but that is now two LR specialist agreed, apparently ford will not allow their parts to be sold with part numbers and logos so OEM manufacturers have to remove before they can sell to a third party at the end of the day they are appeasing Ford big market, you can just about make out the fomoco cartouche and the last two letters of the OEM number, this is what I have been led to believe, anything you can do to confirm would be most appreciated I'm sure your as curious as me steve

So indeed found out that they grind off the name and numbers if a third party company is selling them.

Spoke to several mechanics who change these on a regular basis

Only became aware of it since u kindly shared the info, bless u for the heads up mate

Thks again and have a great weekend

Your always welcome mate will share anything that may be useful or of interest having also recieved the same information now from three trusted suppliers seems to be the case, just buy your OEM parts from a source you trust, finishing cleaning last two pistons as it has pistoning down with rain for two days now all the best
