Hi All. Replacing the injector seals on my TD5 this morning. Got the cover off and it looks a right mess inside. Thick gunge. Nothing in the sump as I dropped the oil out due to raising oil level (hence changing injector seals).. All the gunge is top end around the injectors/rockers.... Also I have in the past had a coolant leak which I couldn't find. Used a UV dye but still couldn't find it. I was having to fill up the expansion tank every 40 miles..so it was a fair amount.. No sign anywhere.. Nothing in the oil.. No white smoke.. Nothing on the floor (although over the last few days some coolant appearing on the floor on the exhaust side of the engine).. Anyway having taken the cover off I've found speckles of UV dye(bright green) around the rockers/injectors..no trouble starting (although I did have trouble some time ago but a change of glow plugs seems to have sorted that)...not over heating... Possible cause?..head gasket / cracked head?..any other reason the coolant being able to get into the top of the engine?.... Thanks.

I'm not too knowledgable about diesels (except old bus engines, but if your oil level is raising but no sign of coolant in the oil, it must be diesel getting in. I would think that means head gasket gone, bad piston rings or a cracked engine. Have you done a compression test?

...and I think you may need to get it sorted out quite quickly before the engine runs away with itself. But others may know better...

Injector seals are common, the fuel pump running continuously is usually a dead giveaway as it's trying to maintain Fuel pressure!

That **** is definitely coolant, it is evil when mixed with OIL.

If it's a 10p HG aren't unheard of..
