I am trying to find part numbers for two TD5 Pulleys.

ERR6658 Idler
ERR6493 Idler

I want GATES / DAYCO / SKF NEVER had an issue with them

Gen LR I think are made by LITENS, some have a INA bearing (INA are not too bad) made in canada but others are made in china , on the whole LITENS don't have great reviews etc, proved by my gen LR on rattling after 12 months.
belts and pulleys are all aligned and tensioned correctly, no water fouling etc, no excuse for bearing failure here.

Cant seem to find cooresponding / cross ref parts numbers any ideas?

can you not replace the bearing normally a press fit and a circlip with a reliable branded bearing assuming the pulley is ok .the plastic idler bearing normally have serrated edge to lock onto the plastic any image of the said parts

lf the pulleys are failing within 12 months there's surely got to be another issue, such as alignment, l've never had a pulley failure on any of my TD5's.

JUST FOR REFERENCE I had what i thought was a belt tensioner problem on my Freelander 1 ,high pitched screaming from tensioner replaced but still there turned out to be play in the crappy BMW water pump and i mean you could move the shaft up and down when the belt was removed yet it did not throw the belt

Cheers all, but its not:-
  • tensioner or tension
  • alignment
  • PSP
  • WP
  • Alternator
  • Crank
All others run free and silent, no movement, the ones i used were Gen LR, Litens- INA with new bolts,
Geometary of the serpentine means that if all others are free and quiet, if out of alignment then I would expect play or noise on PSP,or fan bearing first or Alternator pulley.
I think i just got pants parts,
and I dont think Gates make them, so looking for SKF or DAYCO part numbers....search continues

can you not replace the bearing......

Its looking that way!
I managed to find a TIMKEN for the 6658 ( which is the one thats gone )
Also found SKF & Dunlop thus far ......
