Hi All,

Im in need of some serious help, Decided to change the injector seals and rings last week. put i all back together and no sign of it firing up. had 3 mechanics do a code reading on it one snap on reader, one bosch reader and one autologic. all are saying the crank sensor is giving intermittant reading jumping from 60rpm up to 200rpm and anywhere in between. changed the crank sensor and still no joy. so far i have replaced the fuel pump, diesel regulator and 2 injectors and still no joy. im close to losing the plot and it just wont start. have tried everything. any help would be appreciated,

yes its spotless not a drop,

so far done.....
new in tank pump
new crank sensor
new diesel pressure regulator
2 new injectors (all reprogramed and synced and communicating)
new injector seals and washers
new injector loom
checked all fuses and relays
checked diesel cut off switch

have had it tested with snap on diagnostics

and from the AA man

Just to note, I dont have Aircon or ABS so im not too concerned with those faults

the only thing i can guess from here on is an ECU maybe... its not gone off to a landrover specialist with an autologic set up. fingers crossed

the AC/ABS/tacho faults are always there if they aren't fitted -

both diagnostics have fuel pump fault - can you hear the fuel system purging when you switch on the ignition -

and crank sensor fault - i think this is the only sensor that will prevent the engine running -

i suppose its difficult if these are someone elses systems but both are logged - so if cleared may not reappear -

i think the can error is irrelevant - something to do with ecus communicating -

the glowplug fault could be the problem but i wouldn't have thought so -

be interesting to hear what your specialist says - and if he can fix it -

td5 has no diagnostic capability on the fuel side other than the fuel pump relay, unless the code reader is Lr compliant it cant read faults properly, td5 isnt OBD2

That crank sensor signal can be disturbed by a bad starter, try to jump start it with the starter relay removed and if it starts replace the starter cos that's your problem, even if it turns they used to have some internal fault which can mix up the crank signal, quite common on Td5's

Don't know if it has been suggested, but I have had similar problems starting after oil seal and washer changes in both my TD5 110'S. They do really need a healthy battery to restart! It can sound like it is cranking really well but if the battery is not 100% it will not fire.

have bump started it in 3rd gear being towed my a Landcruiser (not my proudest moment bu i was desperate!!) and still wouldnt come to life.

Stater has had new brushes 3 months ago and was cleaned down so i doubt its that.

pump is priming fine when the ignition light is coming on.

Have a great set of jump leads and was jumping off another diesel at 14v

all 3 mechanics have said that when it was cranking the sensor was giving a reading of 60rpm - 200rpm and was jumping up and down from that, would not go higher.

Im officially beat! is now in the hands of the gods...

Well the mechanic is looking at it tonight so hopefully it will be back on the road tomorrow. im absolutely puzzled what it is. I will update with the news. i bet it will be something small

that makes 2 of us! i have no news yet. The LR specialist is baffled also. Everything had been checked and even tried a new ECU all is fine from a Autologic point of view.

He has got another set of injectors to swap over and try just in case there is an issue. He said he is getting readings and is able to control them from the autologic but it just wont seem to fire so the software/computer end of things is working but there may be a mechanical fault in one or all of the injectors.

So just got a call from the mechanic, I seems the injectors were at fault. although they were communicating with the diagnostics the mechanical part of one or 2 of them were not working as they should, so had to for out for a set of injectors and reprogrammed and hey presto its up and running. costing a small fortune but cant put a price on keeping your landy running tip top

Well, that's good news! Was there any hint of injector problems prior to you changing the seals and washers? Hopefully will settle down and start on the button from now on.

i suppose there was. I was having trouble starting on cold mornings. thats what lead me to the injector seals. have a full bill of health now. my only regret was that it had to go on to a specialist. Its a pity i wasent able to do it myself. oh well. such is life!

Having 2 TD5 110's in the family, I have had my share of non starting problems! , I remember the first time, I had no clue where to start. Since then, with help from this forum, reckon there is few problems I cannot solve. Learning each time and from other's experience is part of the fun of landy ownership. [emoji53] [emoji4]

Check crank sensor wiring and try another starter
Also check ecu wiring as it goes brittle
