Hi All,

It's oil change time again, at half the LR recommended interval. I ordered the 2 filters from one of the well know suppliers, Mann for the rotary and Mahle for the cartridge one. I thought the Mahle was a good quality German item but it has "Made in China" on both the box and the filter. I normally wouldn't let anything made in China near anything. Have any of you got any experience, good or bad, with Mahle filters?

As it has only done 6k miles and LR give a 36k change interval for this filter, I'm inclined not to change it this time, but I'll change the rotary.

I'd appreciate your wisdom.

Some years ago German courts have ruled that products with the label "Made in Germany" must at least be assembled in Germany and that more than half of the parts used should originate from Germany. As they say, God created the world and everything else is made in China :)

I use Mahle filters without a problem but then how would you ever know?
Just about everything is made in China, isn't it?
For the price change both, pointless not changing both filters I would have thought.
Edit: Buy genuine as its made in the UK, the sticker on the box is anyway.
Amazing!

At last engine oil change on my Puma I used a Mahle oil filter, fabric type that goes inside a housing. Made in Austria. The previous oil change I used a Mann filter and noticed it was a sloppy fit onto the spigot in the housing, don't know where it was made. The Mahle was a much better fit, needing to be firmly pushed onto the spigot. I won't be using the Mann type again. I find that with a lot of top brand names, whether car parts, tools or household items, an awful lot are made in china where the brands are outsourcing production. I will not knowingly buy anything made in china.
