Hi, can anyone give me advice on how to replace the injector seals on a td5 defender. My oil level is up slightly and i have intermittant rough running, which im putting down to fuel leaking past injector, it had a head job last year so surely it cant of gone again after 4k miles! The harness has been changed and a genuine air flow meter fitted recently, so were back to the seals,
thanks John

If there is fuel in the oil its likely to be the injector O rings - unless you have head porosity issues.
You need to take off the top cover then gradually loosen the injector rocker shaft before removing it.
Unplug the injector harness and undo the individual injector clamps and remove them.
The injectors pull straight out but the hard bit is getting a grip on them. I used a small pry bar under the injector body, dont lever on the solenoid casing, and out they popped. Change the O rings and the copper washers while they are out. Clean the injector seats before refitting otherwise the washers wont seal.
Reverse the above to put them back. You'll have to look up the various torque values as I dont recall them.
You will need to adjust the injector rockers for travel. Undo the adjuster nut and with the relevant cam lobe at full lift screw the adjuster down until the injector bottoms out (dont go mad just enough until you feel it bottom). Then back the adjuster off exactly one turn before locking down. Do this for all injectors then turn the engine over by hand to make sure none of the injectors are bottoming.
Put the lid on and you're done.

Well i've finished the seals and washers, it seems to be running great again,

Big thanks to Shifty1962 for the info.
