Hi all, i'm wondering if anyone can help me before i finally go mad!
Over the Christmas period i lost the only key i had to my 2000 TD5. The car is only used on rare occasions (i live very rural and need it in the winter months or for towing trailers now and again)
The truck is a real "Work horse" not very pretty but does the trick. I didn't want to spend a fortune getting locksmiths out as the car was already open and alarm system was not engaged so i thought (probably stupidly) just pick up a second hand ignition and drivers door lock and hey presto. I don't need to alarm it in the future.

I've change the whole ignition barrel this morning but alas she wont fire up, ignition turns the radio and fuel pump fires up but that it. So i'm assuming jut changing the barrel isnt going to work for me? The immobiliser light is flashing up until the point i get to position 2 on the ignition then it goes solid red, so i'm guessing the immobiliser is kicking in??

The cars had 2 BCU's in its time (Water leaking) so i know that will also complicate things as non of it "codes" match the cars original details for re-sets etc.
Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers!

You have to unlock with the fob or use the EKA code to remobilise it then once remobilised you can plug in a dedicated tester and disable the alarm/immobiliser

Unfortunately i dont have the fob, it went with the original key. As the BCU is a replacement, where would i get te EKA code from? I've heard mention of an emergency EKA code is that true?

As long as you bought a second hand BCU without it's EKA code you are "phucked"... you should have asked here before spending money in vain... based on your actul situation you need another BCU with sync'd fob and a tester to make the engine ECU learn the security code... it' not something very complicated but it needs some knowledge about what is what.... sorry but there is no other way i know to get you out of this:(

I managed to get hold of a new BCU unit along with its key fob (matching pair) I've fitted them to the truck tonight and the alarm system alarms and de-alarms now along with the central locking, The truck also cranks over now which is a step further than i was getting. However it still wont fire up? Plus the odometer is now flashing, i realise this is because the clocks and the BCU have different millage on them, would this stop the car from starting still? AS far as i can tell the alarm and immobiliser are now off so i cant figure out why it wont start? Do i still need some one to plug a computer in? Do i still need EKA code even if i have fob that works now?

It's normal, i quote myself from my previous post
another BCU with sync'd fob and a tester to make the engine ECU learn the security code
cos now the BCU is remobilsed that's why it cranks but the engine ECU still immobilised hence no fire

Speaking from my own experience when I was in a similar situation, you say the alarm is now activating and de-activating is this via the key in the drivers door or the remote key fob? Usually the issue is the immobiliser has lost sync with the key this is because the RF receiver in the roof is water damaged. Luckily it is only a receiver and is not pre programmed to the car. These can be picked up on ebay for not a lot and once fitted the fully functioning remote central locking will deactivate the immobiliser without needing the EKA code. Check your part number on yours before you order a new one because I believe there are a couple of variations. Hope that helps.

Also check your fuel pump relay under the bonnet.I had to link one out on a Td5 once because it wouldn't start.

I see that i need the use of a nanocom unit to solve my problem then. I need to somehow sync my BCU to my ECU it seems. I see you can hire a nanocom for £40 for a week, was considering it. However having never used one, is there a step by step guide on what to do available?

Where in the world are you?
