Hi, new to this forum so bear with me. Can anyone give me advice on the following sympton?

Discovery TD5 2003 . Since owning the clutch biting point has always been very low, but never had any problems. 2 years later tanking up the M6 pulling my caravan, after a good hour of travelling at 60Mph, an accident caused me to slow & drop down through the box. I noticed that the pedal had to be touching the floor to engage gear & that the top travel was very loose & the biting point had almost disappeared only just managing to get into gear from neutral. Managed to get to destination in the Lakes & since then no problem, clutch feels as it did before with low biting point but works well. Have checked fluid level & still at max, no apparent leaks. Can anyone offer any advice?:(
