Having just bought my son a 110 to match mine, (better nic than mine!) there are a few gremlins to sort out. One of these is the fuel guage reading just over quarter full although has had £85 worth of Diesel put in. Have done a search but not found the answer I need. I do seem to recall this may be a sympton of the wrong fuel pump, or to be more precise, the wrong sender unit being fitted. Ie a defender 90 fuel pump/sender unit rather than the 110 unit. Ring any bells anybody?
Mine does exactly the same Ratty. I've had that pump in and out too many times to try and sort it. Tried adjusting the arm etc but given up now as nothing obviously bent and gauge works just fine with the pump out of the tank. ??????

Looks like I will have to cut out a hatch in this one as I had to do in my own one to get access to the pump without dropping the tank. Something else for the ever lengthening todo list!
