td5 discovery auto gearbox

That sounds like the gearbox is releasing 1st gear alright but that the engagement of 2nd gear is sluggish, or slipping.

it lasts for about a second then selects.also it takes a long time to change into top gear.

That also sounds like sluggish changes, and that tends to suggest it is time to sort it out. You might be lucky and can sort it by

1. making sure the gearbox is topped up properly.
or
2. draining the transmission fluid, then taking off the gearbox sump pan, drop the pickup pipe and clean the oil strainer. If it is gungy that suggests another problem somewhere.

i have bought another ecu for my gearbox.to see if it will make any difference.also i am going to change the gearbox fillter and oil.
