when accelerating up a steep hill or towing my caravan up a hill, sometimes it feels like it is running low on fuel a juddering type action, anyone can you help:confused:

Yeah, sounds like a poor gear choice.

But in these circumstances you can put a lot of strain on the system if you do a poor gear change. Most people seem to press the clutch and ease of the gas, then chnage down and release the clutch again and only then reset the gas.

Correct gear changes can be learnt by mastering the 4th - 3rd first. In forth, keep your right foot rock steady on the gas. Depress the clutch. The revs will build slightly, won't they? During this time you are obviously changing to 3rd and you then reingage the clutch with the revs perfect for the gear.

3rd to 2nd is trickier as you need to depress the accelerator a little more to build the revs appropriately.

Cheers
