i know theres a post here somewhere on this..but i cant find it,,i have an 04 plate 2.00lt diesel that runs well apart from a bit of black smoke on accelerating..it will not start hot or cold with out a small sniff of easy start...ive been told this is a pump or an injector fault among lots of other things..can anyone tell me what the fault really could be.... thanks for looking steve

As above remove the starter motor, you then gain access to the HPFP the regulator is bolted to the rear by two torx screws, first remove the regulator wiring plug, unbolt and change the O-ring job done, link below for O-rings

I must admit, I find it easier to remove the inlet manifold first. Once it's out the way, there's plenty of room, without removing the starter. ;)

The Torx bolts can be very tight to shift. It's wise to have a decent Torx socket to do the job.

If the EGR hasn't been removed - its a good opo to clean the manifold as well :)

Unless you have 8' legs, you'll need the FL1 on the ground to do the regulator O rings. ;)
