td4 with 160k miles struggle to engage gears

Dear landy owners, as i said above, just got this old boy from my father works fine but last couple of days seems to really struggle to engage any gears will eventually engage but is a real struggle and don't want to knacker anything in the gearbox, any tips i can try before i take it to a garage.

Any help appreciated!
