Hi All
Changed my fuel pump and filter tonight in my 2005 Freelander. Bit of a awkward job but made easier by following info on this forum. The problem is when I first bought this car it was running real bad so I ran it straight into my local kwik fit type garage and got them to change the engine oil and fuel filter. I wasnt aware at the time what was involved with a Freelander fuel filter change. It took the guys 2 hours to fit the filter - and at one point had three of them working on the fuel filter!
Anyway tonight I saw the results of their work they had literally hammered the new Polish made fuel filter into its housing. Took a fair bit of removing. New filter and pump fitted but no sign of where to fit the earth lead! just found a single black cable with connector, guessing this is the earth lead. Where is it meant to connect?
Also found a a plug connected to nothing - anybody have any ideas what this is for?
Once all the parts was fitted (all OEM parts) car started great - took it for a 20 mile test run and it didnt miss a beat across all types of road. Parked it in the drive and 1 hour later tried to start - wont start. The lead Im guessing is the earth is not connected because I dont know where to connect it.
Any advice is really appreciated.
cheers all
Dave
