The last week or so I've had a lot of diesel pouring out of the bottom of my 55 plate Freelander Td4. Managed to trace the leak to the high pressure diesel pump (the one to the side of the oil filter). The leak is worst when starting up first thing in the morning (when there is a steady stream of diesel coming out) but improves within 5 - 10 mins.
I've been in touch with my local indie who referred me on to a diesel injection specialist. They are going to take a look at it later this week and said they may be able to refurbish the pump or it may need a new pump fitted at £££. :(
Was wondering if anybody else has been in this position and whether a refurbishment is sufficient or if a new pump is usually needed?

Mine did it last year in the morning when it was cold. It would seal it self after about 20 seconds.
It's normally the seals under the piston caps...you can buy a kit for about £15 ( you'll need to do a search on here as someone did it and posted the part number).
I ended upputting mine in a garage for it, with labour and a recon pump it was approx £600.
You can do it yerself if you can get hold of a timing chain lock down kit and it doesn't seem that difficult, I was just being lazy and it was far far too cold outside.
