Hi All,
First of all i'm a newbie and this is my first post
I'm having a 2002 Freelander Td4 auto, couple of weeks ago the check engine light came on, and i went for a diagnostic test and mechanic scanned it and told me it was the fuel rail pressure sensor that needs to be replaced, so i have ordered sensor from ebay.
until sensor get posted, and on the way to me, i was driving the Freelander for couple of days now, and yesterday while on the road the engine suddenly misfiring and big black smoke came out, but after i stop and restart the engine everything was fine and i was able to come back home with out an issue. hope this is because of the faulty sensor?
after back in home, i have checked the rail pressure sensor connector, it was clean and good, and the voltage by a multimeter, fixing it's negative on the battery negative and positive in each connecter pin.
while ignition on, and connector removed from the rail end sensor, left pin 0v and the center pin and the right pin both read 5v is this normal? from the post from this site i thought the center signal pin on the connecter should be around 0.5v?
with the connector back on the faulty sensor the reading was 10-11v on the left pin too.
i'm just wondering with these reading, even if i replace the sensor form ebay, that these faults would not be cleared
.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
