Td4 Fuel Pumps

Hi everyone, just signed up so be gentle

.

Had starting problems with a 2001 TD4, the garage told me it was the fuel pumps.

Is it likely that both would go at the same time, or are they covering themselves as they are usure as to which one it would be?

Is it a common problem with the TD4?

Can the faulty pumps be refurbished, and sold on?

when you turn ignition to on position, (dont crank the engine ), you should hear the one on the near side wing for about 10 secs , the one mounted in the tank is not quite as noticable,

The car is at the garage so cant check. So both shouldn't go at the same time?

The only way to test is to monitor the low side fuel pressure on Testbook - should be about 360kpa,it will only be OK if both are working.

its normally the one int tank that goes . . . .but fuel filter blocked gives same problem. . . .
