td4 06 rear noise like a fan

just bought td4 06 there is a noise from the rear that sounds like a fan around the wheels or similar to vacum cleaner when engine is on is this normal as never had a 4 wheel drive before and know very little help would be appreciated.

Could be the propeller for river crossings :flame2:

If it makes the noise whilst driving then it could be the centre prop bearings shot. When they go they sort of sound a cross between a windy noise & a sort of grinding. I have found in my experience that once the centre bearings go then the VCU is not that far behind them. Check VCU otherwise your be spending £££ if that goes. Welcome to being a Freeloader owner

From what you have described it is probably the fuel pump you can hear. The sound should stop when the key is in the accessory position.
