td4 04 reg to td4 02

hello
can anyone tell me if the engines are diff or any diff between an 04 td4 face lift engine and an 02 reg td4, looking to put a low miles engine from a td4 into my 02 reg td4, just want to know if its a simple swap over or did they add bits on the 04 face lift td4

I haven't heard of any differences in the engines themselves being mentioned on the forum.

The ECU is probably different, coz pre-2004 it wasn't ODB so the codes are different and need a different code reader

I would reckon to transfer all the electrics as well.

I doubt you would have to go to that trouble if the engine mechanicals are the same.
At worst you would have to check sensor part no.s are the same and any that were different could be swapped from the older engine.

cheers for that guys, i have all the ecu's aswel so not a major prob, will just have to check to make sure the plugs are the same, was there a pump umder the rear drivers wheel arckh on the later td4???

Td4s after 05/2002 have the under arch fuel pump and filter.

Swapping the engine itself should be fine, if you find any differences in ancillary equipment you can retain the originals.
