Hi there i am hoping somebody can give clear guidance. Having recently got rid of my V reg 1.8k series petrol (i know nightmares) which i have to say gave almost three years and 45K miles without any issues. I decided almost foolishly to buy a 04 TD4 station wagon from Bradford, i am in Kent
64K miles.
All MOT.
All service history.
Picked up in Bradford no problem, drove well for first 120 miles home, then the orange light of doom came on, then off , then on then off etc. Everytime i pushed past 70 it came on very juddery then on pull away. RAC came to me and said the fault is low level fuel pump on their equipment, however he did not think it was that as lots of oil on intercooler pips, he thought might be Turbo. Anyway it goes on low loader to Kent Diesel specialist, who after 4 days suggets it is low level pump as per fault diagnosis equipment i mentioned Turbo, he said wait until fuel pump done and then see.
What i don't want to do is waste £'000s on repairs, i did get a 1 year warranty but this specialist will not recognise that, i have to pay and claim back.
Having read and re read various threads i am at a loss, it appears to be a common fault but has various different causes.
I am not in anyway a mechanic, any help greatfully apprecaited. Also any good independents in kent that anyone can recommend
Thanks
