This happened when I pulled the door open...not forcefully. When i went into my friends house another friend there mentioned this had also happened to their other freelander owning pals.

This a common experience? Going to cost me big time for a new one?

Mine is a three door hardback.

I did this after the missus had taken out next doors weelie bin with the door handle.

If you strip it off you can glue it back together and Gently screw it back on.
I seem to remember getting a bolt to got through some of the plastic inside and screwing it together with that , You can do it and it looks good enough from the outside, just remember to lift the catch, wait for the window and then open it a bit and get hold of the door to open it all the way. Oh and don't let the kids near it.

I take it you are refering to that oft quoted habit of Freelander doors falling off when they go through puddles? My wife doesn't need to resort to dampness to pull things off! OOer!

Well all sorted now...well kinda. Scrapyard had no freelanders but guy thought there might be a tailgate in a far corner and I got lucky...even luckier as it was £5.

It must be a pretty common problem (oh good another design fault) because this "new" one had cracks where the bolts were mounted as well. So I invested in some chemical metal to beef up the posts a bit and am going to keep my fingers crossed it doesnt fail on me again.

A nuisance was I lost my wee 10mm socket so had to go back to halfords for a cheap set. So another tenner then when tidying up I found the bloody lost one.

As a matter of interest Landrover dealer wanted £85 for a new bit and a parts dealer down south £40 plus postage (assuming for a salvaged bit).

its a security feature to stop anyone getting in through the boot. Little does anyone realise it only needs a bucket of water and a 10 minute wait. chuck water over car and wait for one of the doors to fall off
