Can anybody help? When unlocked, engine running or not, window drops the 20mm or so as usual, I hear a clicking from the solenoid (or nearby) but the door won't unlock. The solenoid (tailgate locking motor?) clicks with a straight 12V from the battery, but no joy. From other threads, it seems like it could be the lock mechanism sticking. But how can I mechanically open the door? I believe the lock mechanism unbolts from the thickness of the door but of course not possible with the door not opening! Inside the cavity where the side lights sit, there are a couple of holes in the bodywork that may line up with the motor fixing bolts. Anybody know if they do? What size socket/torx will I need? (can't actually see the bolts....)

don't know if it helps .. but ..
you can access the lock unit by removing the door card.
the screws at the bottom of the card, can be gotten at and undone from inside.
from memory the lower screws come out and it more or less lifts off.
though i could be mistaken re interior access in a regular fl1,
as mine's a lite-van type.

Thanks for your reply hd3. I've taken the door card off already, but I can't see a way of undoing the lock from the inside :{

oh .. i see what you mean ..
try a forum 'search' ..
i think just about every fl1 owner has had tailgate locking issues at somestage.
i've a feeling i've read about same predicament as your's ..
.

There has been an exactly same thread recently - the solenoid became detatched from the latch. The 2 bits are supplied as 1 piece joined by a rod that had become detatched on the lock side.

There was a tab you can push with a screwdriver or summat to release the latch.

Read through this, it explains how to open the door and what you need to replace...

that were a good one 👍
should be a sticky methinks.

I had that problem recently. With the door card off I reached in and gave the door actuator gizmo a couple of taps with a screwdriver handle and then it opened as normal. I've since replaced that door actuator and gave the actual latch assembly a dust off before reassembly. See my post re' this earlier in this thread.
