Hi all. Good evening.

Something new has come up with the landy - flickering tail lights when engine is ON. Brake and indicator lights light up at the same time, no flashing but flicker lightly.

This only happens at the back. Front lights (also LED) work perfectly.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

99/100 it's a bad Earth, My rear lights all share a common earth, one on each side. So if several are flickering that's where I'd start.
Where to start though?

Should I look at the bunch of wires coming out from the driver side chassis and separating into 2 bunches (Left and Right)? ... and the connectors that exist to split the earth to all rear LEDs are found in the rear corner compartment?

Also, there was a negative wire attached on the right side of the rear door. I removed it when I changed from full door to a tailgate. But I guess its not it, since without an earth it wont work at all no?

Like Tottot said, remove the covers off the rear load area so you have access to the wiring.
Get yourself some contact cleaner.
Check all the black wires are in good shape and not broken or frayed.
Disconnect them one by one and clean them thoroughly with contact cleaner. Go crazy.
See where that gets you.

And if some one has fitted a towing socket or anything else with those Devils invention "scotchlok" connecters get rid and fit decent crimp or even chock block connectors

Hello guys. Thanks for the information. The problem was a missing earth the one at the rear door. Took it off myself by mistake and did not re attach it when I converted the landy to a soft top. However, previous owners seemed to have removed the Left side rear tail lights and indicator earth from the main one and so the problem remained on that side only. Then I discovered that the earth for that side was connected to the rear view camera with obviously was removed when I removed the roof. Seems to be a little weird though for someone to opt for such an earth system.

But all sorted now. Thanks for your help.

As I say regularly "you can never have too many earths on a Land Rover" ...
